Florida Department of Health Provides Week 16 Updates on Florida’s Vaccination Efforts Under Governor DeSantis’ Leadership
~Federally-Supported COVID-19 Vaccination Sites to Offer Johnson and Johnson Vaccine~
Today, the Florida Department of Health issued an update on the progress of the state's vaccination efforts, as well as its weekly COVID-19 update. The State of Florida is in its sixteenth week of vaccine distribution and is continuing to increase vaccine access statewide.
The Florida Division of Emergency Management announced that the four federally-supported vaccination sites in Jacksonville, Orlando, Tampa and Miami will transition to administering the one dose Johnson and Johnson vaccine Tuesday, April 6. The four federally-supported sites will administer up to 3,000 one dose Johnson and Johnson vaccines per day, per site.
Governor DeSantis’ administration is taking the necessary steps to ensure the vaccine gets administered as quickly as possible. This week, new actions to continue Florida’s proactive approach to vaccinations includes the following:

To provide Floridians with the latest information about vaccinations in the state, the Florida Department of Health has issued a COVID-19 vaccine report that is updated daily. This report includes information on the COVID-19 vaccine by county, race, sex and age. Find the COVID-19 vaccine report here.
As of today, at 7 a.m., 6,091,034 individuals have been vaccinated for COVID-19 in Florida; 3,359,867 million are seniors ages 65 and older.

Week 16 (Underway)
- Beginning Tuesday, April 6, the four federally-supported COVID-19 vaccination sites in Jacksonville, Tampa, Orlando and Miami will transition to offering the Johnson and Johnson vaccine. Each site will be able to administer up to 3,000 doses of the Johnson and Johnson vaccine per day. More information is available here.
- Beginning Monday, April 5, all individuals ages 18 and older will be eligible to receive any COVID-19 vaccine. Individuals ages 16 and older will be eligible to receive the Pfizer vaccine. All individuals under the age of 18 receiving a vaccine must be accompanied by a guardian and complete the COVID-19 vaccine screening and consent form. The form is available here.
- Nine additional state-supported vaccination sites, designed to increase vaccine access and ensure health equity across Florida’s communities, are open in Broward, Duval, Hillsborough, Miami-Dade, Orange, Osceola and St. Lucie counties. The state continues to encourage homebound individuals to sign up to receive a COVID-19 vaccine at their home by filling out the survey available here, emailing HomeboundVaccine@em.myflorida.com or by calling 866-779-6121.
- The state continues to canvass Florida’s communities with COVID-19 vaccine outreach teams that help answer questions about the COVID-19 vaccine, help individuals identify vaccination sites near them and pre-register individuals for vaccine appointments. To date, state outreach teams have knocked on more than 200,000 doors across the state.
- The state is hosting mobile, one-day vaccination clinics in partnership with local community organizations to increase vaccine access to all Floridians. This weekend, the state continues to host mobile vaccination sites for all eligible individuals under the Governor’s current Executive Order. Appointments are not necessary. Each site will administer 400 doses of the Johnson and Johnson vaccine. This weekend’s events are below:

9:30 a.m. - 7 p.m. - At the Governor’s direction, the Florida Division of Emergency Management and the Florida Department of Health continue to identify places of worship and other locations in underserved communities where the COVID-19 vaccine may be administered. - Under Governor DeSantis' leadership, more than 1,190 vaccination sites have been opened statewide in partnership with local communities and hospitals. The Florida Department of Health continues to identify active vaccine sites. All vaccine sites in Florida are posted on the Florida Department of Health's website here.
