Florida Department of Health Issues Daily Update on COVID-19 09/11/20

~Number of COVID-19 Positive Patients Currently Hospitalized Down 70 percent since July~ 

The Florida Department of Health (DOH), in order to provide more comprehensive data, releases a report on COVID-19 cases in Florida once per day. Today, data reported to the Agency for Health Care Administration shows that the number of COVID-19 positive patients that are currently hospitalized is down more than 70 percent since July. As posted on the Agency for Health Care Administration’s hospitalization dashboard at 1:15 p.m., there are 2,816 current hospitalizations with a primary diagnosis of COVID-19.

Today, data reported to DOH shows there has been a steady decline in the number of reported Florida resident deaths who were previously diagnosed with COVID-19. The fourth week of July compared to the fourth week of August, shows a 75 percent decrease in the average number of reported COVID-19 related deaths. 

Today, Florida had the thirtieth straight day below 10 percent positivity of new cases.

Today, as reported at 11 a.m., there are 3,650 new positive COVID-19 cases and 176 reported deaths - 5 occurred yesterday, September 10. 

Test results for more than 73,800 individuals were reported to DOH as of midnight, on Thursday, September 10. On September 10, 5.53 percent of new cases** tested positive.

To date, there are a total of 658,381 Florida cases*** with 12,502 deaths related to COVID-19.

Since September 10, the death of one hundred seventy-six Florida residents who tested positive for COVID-19 have been reported in Alachua, Baker, Bay, Bradford, Brevard, Broward, Charlotte, Clay, Collier, Columbia, Dade, Duval, Escambia, Gilchrist, Hernando, Highlands, Hillsborough, Jackson, Lake, Lee, Manatee, Marion, Orange, Osceola, Palm Beach, Pasco, Pinellas, Santa Rosa, Sarasota, Seminole, St. Johns, St. Lucie, Sumter, Taylor, Union and Volusia counties.

• The list of long-term care facilities with deaths is available here, which is updated weekly.
• To date, 5,166 individuals that were staff or residents of a long-term care facility have died.

* Florida residents that are diagnosed with COVID-19 and isolated out of state are not reflected on the Florida map.

**This percentage is the number of people who test positive for the first time divided by all tests, excluding people who have previously tested positive.
