Florida Division of Emergency Management Celebrates Legislative Accomplishments
Today, following the Sine Die ceremony marking the end of the Florida Legislative Session, Florida Division of Emergency Management Director Jared Moskowitz issued the following statement:
"I applaud Governor DeSantis for the commitment he has shown to ensuring the communities in the Panhandle rebuild from Hurricane Michael, as well as his dedication to ensuring our state is prepared for all possible disasters."
Since day one of this administration, the Division has been focused on finding ways to support recovering communities and helping to get funding out the door as quickly as possible. The funding we've secured over this legislative session will go a long way toward ensuring the Panhandle’s recovery and our state’s preparedness. These accomplishments include:
- Securing $2.2 billion for hurricane response and recovery;
- The creation of a Hurricane Michael Recovery Grant program with $25 million in funding; and
- Securing $1 million in funding for the State Emergency Operations Center to ensure Florida has an innovative and fully operational facility to lead hurricane response.
"While we are proud of all we’ve been able to accomplish since January, I look forward to continuing to work with Governor DeSantis to make sure every community in the state fully recovers from recent hurricanes and to ensure our state is prepared to respond to any disaster."
