Florida Division of Emergency Management Announces Partnership with Proof Brewing Company Ahead of 2023 Hurricane Season
Today, the Florida Division of Emergency Management announced a partnership with Proof Brewing company to promote the Division's 'Halfway Full is Halfway There' safety campaign. The announcement comes 100 days ahead of the 2023 Hurricane Season.
"The Division recognizes that we have to continue to come up with innovative ways to reach younger generations as Florida's population continues to grow,” said Division Director Kevin Guthrie. “If we can share important safety tips with these individuals (21+ age group) while they socialize or browse the grocery store, that’s a win in my book.”
“We are thrilled to be able to give back and partner with FDEM in the Halfway Full Halfway There project that will raise awareness for storm preparedness," said Co-Founder of Proof Brewing Company Byron Burroughs. "Proof’s entire team is grateful and honored for this unique opportunity to help protect the community that continues to support us.”
The ‘Halfway Full is Halfway There’ campaign encourages residents and visitors to keep their gas tanks at least half full throughout hurricane season to ensure they have enough fuel to evacuate as soon as possible without worrying about long lines at gas stations and to avoid gas shortages prior to a storm. For Floridians with electric vehicles, it’s recommended that the battery always maintained between 50% - 80% capacity, depending on the type of vehicle and what the vehicle’s manual recommends. This does not require charging every night but will still ensure that individuals and families have enough charge in their vehicles to evacuate safely and quickly when needed.
The “Halfway Full is Halfway There” beer debuted at Emergency Management Day at Florida’s Capitol on February 15, 2023. It is expected to be available for purchase in stores beginning sometime in March throughout Florida.
