Emergency Information for Nicole
Public Assistance is available to State, Territorial, Tribal, and Local governments, and certain types of private nonprofit organizations. Public Assistance is available for declared counties and additional designations continue to be made and may be made at a later date.
On 12/22/2022, FEMA amended the DR-4680 Hurricane Nicole Major Disaster Declaration to include the 51 counties previously declared under the EM-3587 Emergency Declaration; please see the attached map and more information available here:
- the RPA submission deadline is 1/11/2023 for Applicants within the following 10 counties: Brevard, Duval, Flagler, Indian River, Martin, Nassau, Palm Beach, St. Johns, St. Lucie, and Volusia. Applicants in these counties are eligible for both emergency work (Category A&B) and permanent work (Categories C-G).
- the RPA submission deadline is 1/20/2023 for Applicants within the 51 add-on counties included in the amendment. Applicants in these counties are only eligible for emergency protective measures (Category B).
If you previously submitted an RPA under the Emergency Declaration (EM-3587), you will not have to resubmit another request for the Major Disaster Declaration (DR-4680). FEMA has confirmed that they will handle the transfer of information.

Disaster Recovery Centers are designed to help disaster survivors jumpstart their recovery from Hurricane Ian and Nicole.
DRCs are closed on Sundays. Please note that hours of operation may differ based on location.
DRCs are a coordinated effort between FEMA, the Florida Division of Emergency Management, and additional state agencies.
It is not necessary to visit a center to apply for FEMA assistance. Survivors can go online to disasterassistance.gov, use the FEMA mobile app or call the FEMA Helpline at 800-621-3362. The line is open every day from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. ET. Help is available in most languages. If you use a relay service, such as video relay (VRS), captioned telephone or other service, give FEMA the number for that service. Survivors who sustained damage from Hurricane Nicole should contact their insurance company, take pictures of the damage, begin clean up, and save receipts.

American Red Cross Financial Assistance
The Red Cross is providing financial assistance, based on household size, to people whose homes were confirmed to have been destroyed or sustained major structural damage from Hurricane Ian in September 2022, or Hurricane Nicole in November 2022.
Major damage is indicated by significant structural damage to a residence that requires extensive repairs. This may include substantial failure of the roof, walls or foundation, or a water line above 18 inches in an essential living space. A residence that is destroyed is one that is a total loss or with damage so extensive that repair is not feasible.

All Florida coastal counties and counties are susceptible to storm surge and most have designated evacuation zones. Use the mapping tool above to search by address and determine if you are in a designated evacuation zone. If your home is not located in a colored evacuation zone, you may not need to evacuate. Know your home and its ability to withstand strong winds and rain.
