Project Application
An application for each project must be submitted within 60 days of the applicant briefing on forms provided by the Florida Department of Community Affairs, Division of Emergency Management.
Project Schedule
Ideally, a Hazard Mitigation Grant Program project should commence within 90 days of funding approval and completion of the project occurring within one year. However, under certain circumstances time extensions may be appropriately authorized by the state. Furthermore, the scope of work, bidding and contracting procedures may result in longer time frames.
A work schedule must be provided showing a time line and project milestones. An estimated number of days for each phase of the project should be provided; specified dates are not necessary (i.e. bidding process = 30 days). A maintenance schedule also must be submitted indicating the maintenance activities which must be performed by the applicant for the life of the project.
Hazard Mitigation Grant Program/Flood Mitigation Assistance Application Processing
The Department has recently developed an application that may be used for both the Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP) and the Flood Mitigation Assistance (FMA) Program. However, because the FMA program is limited to flood mitigation initiatives, only certain sections of the application are applicable. Applicants are advised to complete only those portions of the application that apply to their project type.
