The office houses the Director and executive staff. The office provides for the management and oversight to all agency functions and include the Office of External Affairs, the Office of the Inspector General, the positions of Senior Attorney, and the State Military Liaison Officer.
The functional areas are Finance and Administration, Preparedness, Response, Recovery and Mitigation.

Emergency Management Internship Opportunities
The Florida Division of Emergency Management (DEM) welcomes potential interns to apply throughout the year. Interns may be placed at headquarters (Tallahassee, FL) or in a local jurisdiction depending on availability and preference. Most of the internships are unpaid and typically last 1 year or less. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis and will be kept on file.
Internships will:
- Enhance the student’s education and overall academic experience
- Help the Emergency Management entity with its mission
- Allow students to get real world experience
